Race Report: 2007 Portland Marathon

(10-8-07) This year’s 36th annual running of the Portland Marathon was another huge success with nearly 8,000 finishers in the full marathon. In his marathon debut Californian Carlos Siqueiros from San Jose nabbed the men’s title with a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, 25 seconds averaging a 5:33 pace for the 26.2-mile distance. Eugene to Host Cross Country Race for Kids

Portland’s Browne on Streak, Wins 5k Title

(9-16-07) From Jim Estes, USATF – U.S. Olympians Dan Browne (Portland, Ore.) and Shalane Flanagan (Pittsboro, N.C.) took home the respective men’s and women’s titles at the USA 5K Championship Sunday morning. Browne’s time of 13 minutes, 48 seconds was good for third overall in the Open men’s race at the 18th CVS Caremark Downtown 5K, while Flanagan ran 15:26 to become the first U.S. woman to win the Open race at this event since …more »

Portland’s Dan Browne Wins 20k Title

(9-4-07) From USATF press release (by Jim Estes) – 2004 Olympian Dan Browne (Portland, Ore.) returned to New Haven for the first time since 2003 to lead the men’s field at the 2007 USA 20K Championships, winning his third national title (2001-02) at that distance in 59:19. Two-time NCAA 10,000 meter champion Alicia Shay, formerly Craig, (Flagstaff, Ariz.), claimed her first USA women’s title in 1:06:56.
