Open Water Wednesdays

OWW’s are a coached open water swim workout at Lake Meridian Park in Kent, WA. Participants will swim around a 300 yard buoy course in groups of similar-pace swimmers. Coach Mike Murphy will be in a kayak at the start buoy and will give the groups of swimmers intervals and drills during each workout. It’s combining the best of a coached interval workout and open water swim practice.
In addition to Mike on the buoy course, Coach Alissa Anderson will be near shore working with swimmers on specific skills and helping new open water swimmers get acclimated. Her goal is to get you trained up and out on the buoy course with the main group.
Open Water Wednesdays are a great opportunity for any open water swimmer – you’ll get a good workout in and can practice those open water skills like sighting, turning at buoys,. and getting used to swimming with other people around you.
You may sign up for one workout at a time, or purchase 3 or more workouts for a reduced price. The more workouts you sign up for, the more you’ll save. A 10-workout pass cuts the price of each workout in half
Wetsuits are mandatory! If you don’t own a swim-specific wetsuit – yet – take a look at the blueseventy line that you can find at Northwest Tri & Bike. Transition Practice Nights – 6/23 & 7/14 – Arrive a little earlier with your bike and run gear and a coach will run you through raceday transition practice.
blueseventy Demo Nights – 6/30 & 8/4 – blueseventy will be bringing their fleet of demo wetsuits and will be on hand to answer any questions about OW Swimming and gear.
Practice Race Nights – 7/7 & 8/11 – After a warmup and abbreviated workout, this workout will end with a race of the distance of your choice. Improve your time on the 2nd night and you’ll win a prize
