Oregon’s Mt Bachelor to Host New XC Ski and Snowshoe Event in January 2012

On Saturday, January 28, 2012 a brand new XC ski and snowshoe event will take place at Oregon’s Mt Bachelor Nordic Center. The first annual Tour for the Heart presented by The Heart Center/St Charles Hospital is a 5km celebration of women’s winter fitness created to educate and fund raise for women’s heart disease — America’s #1 killer.

The very beginner-friendly 5km route, starting from the upper Mt Bachelor Nordic trails, is perfect for any level of XC skier or snowshoer. Multiple local shops and the Mt Bachelor Nordic Center providing specials on rental equipment and lessons throughout the weekend. Costumes will be encouraged and prizes will be awarded for organizations and schools with the largest number of participants. Delicious (and healthy) treats, music, and merriment will also contribute to making this a one-of-a-kind party in the snow for a great cause.
