New Women’s Trail Marathon and Relay to Debut in August at Mt. Adams in Washington State

From Press Release –

The Wild Woman Marathon (and Relay) is a trail run created by and for women, which will debut on August 11, 2012. The organizers invite you and your girlfriends to join us for a weekend of 26.2 miles of forest fun. Come for the run, stay for the weekend at our Mt. Adams base camp. Bring your tent and your friends who like to run long, play hard and eat locally. Wild Woman Marathon has all the ingredients for a great, wholesome weekend: good trails, good food, and great women.

Event directors Steph and Betsy live and run up and down and even around Mt. Adams (a 12,276-foot volcano). For the past few years, marathons (road and trail) have provided them with an opportunity to reconnect with girlfriends from Austin to Boston, Columbia Gorge to Orcas Island. They’ve traded life stories over plates of pre-run pasta and post-run pinot gris. Now it’s their time to return the favor and hold a trail run in their—literally—backyard at the base of Mt. Adams.

And since not everyone wants to run 26.2 miles, they’ve added a relay division with legs ranging in difficulty from 4.5-8.7 miles. Afterwards, you’ll be treated to a lunch of wood-fired pizza (cooked outdoors, on site), local, organic salad, post-run yoga, and pure bliss.
