24-Hour Running & Music Festival Slated for July 20th and 21st at Portland International Raceway

From Press Release – 8-Track Relay Hits Portland In Full Stride –

A one-of-a-kind 24-hour running relay and music festival debuts in Portland on July 20th and 21st at Portland International Raceway, and it isn’t your father’s relay. Inspired by the fact that other relay events in the area turn away five times as many teams as they accept, the 8-Track Relay offers an alternative: In addition to focusing solely on the run, event directors serve athletes a slice of Portland’s Indie-Rock scene.

The unique event is much more than a foot race–it’s a running festival, and includes more than 20 live bands, free on-site camping, a fireworks display, bonfire, waterpark with slip-n-slide, games, food, and a 100-acre beer garden.

Teams of 8 runners will run laps around a 4-mile loop, with the goal of completing as many laps as they can in a 24-hour period. The loop course passes much of the extracurricular action, and features segments of serene natural beauty along with the heart-pumping action of a vibrant exchange zone and live music. The relay baton? An actual 8-track cassette bearing a timing chip that records each lap.

Interested runners and festival attendees can register for the race or buy festival tickets at www.8TrackRelay.com.

Organized by Good Sport Promotion, in partnership with The Portland Mercury, Portland International Raceway, Mississippi Studios and KINK FM 101.9.
