Montana Governor’s Cup

The Governor’s Cup in historic Helena, Montana has been running strong since 1974. The Gov Cup offers the widest variety of races of any event in Montana and features something for everybody, whether you’re an elite runner or a recreational runner. The marathon, marathon relay and half marathon feature USATF certified courses, and the marathon is home to the second-fastest men’s and fastest women’s times ever posted on Montana soil. In 1982, Helena’s Jim Hatcher finished in 2:20:35, and in 2013, Helena’s Heather Lieberg blazed to a victorious 2:45:59. Prize purses are available in the marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K, while all marathon and half marathon finishers also receive commemorative medals.
