Umpqua River Run Half, 10K, 5K

From press release: If running along the beautiful Umpqua River sounds like a great way to spend your Saturday morning, you won’t want to miss the Umpqua River Run! Chip-timed by Eclectic Edge Racing, the Umpqua River Run, held Saturday August 15th, features a half marathon, a 10k, a 5K and a Kids Marathon Final Mile. Where is the Umpqua Valley you say? Oregon’s Umpqua Valley sits between the Coast Range to the west and the Cascade Range to the east halfway between Eugene and Medford on Interstate 5. Roseburg is at the heart of the Umpqua Valley where the Umpqua River winds throughout the city.

URRThe race starts and finishes in beautiful Stewart Park along the bank of the Umpqua River. The half marathon features a combination of running/bike paths, neighborhoods and country roads with much of the course running along the river. The 10K, 5K and Kids Final Mile stay exclusively within the Stewart Park bike path system. After you finish, enjoy a complimentary piece of bakery fresh cobbler from our local farmer’s market, Kruse Farms, and a pint of chocolate milk from our own Umpqua Dairy. Each participant also receives a complimentary beverage from their choice of Old 99 Brewing or Booster Juice. If that’s not enough to satisfy you, grab a bite from Old Soul Pizza a local vendor featuring wood-fired gourmet pizza. Sit in the grass by the river and listen to music by Mickey Beach and Mo’Jo Boogie.

Participants will also receive a ticket for our prize drawing for a chance at many great prizes including 4 tickets to Disneyland! All participants in the half marathon and the Kids Marathon Final Mile will receive finisher’s medals. The total purse for the Half-Marathon event is $1,000 ($250 ~ 1st Place Overall Men’s & Women’s; $150 ~ 2nd Place Overall Men’s & Women’s; $100 ~ 3rd Place Overall Men’s & Women’s). In addition, medals will be awarded for the top finishers for the half marathon/10K/5K in all divisions.

Make a weekend of it – there’s so much to do in the Umpqua Valley! This year the Umpqua River Run falls on the same weekend as one of the area’s favorite local events, Henry Goes Wine! Held at one of the oldest wineries in the Umpqua Valley, the event features wine specials, winery and vineyard tours and great food! Not into wine? Then enjoy a guided fishing trip, hike or bike the North Umpqua Trail, visit Steamboat Inn or Wildlife Safari or soak in the Umpqua Hot Springs!
