Third Annual Fueled by Fine Wine Half Marathon Slated for July 2012

From Press Release –

On July 15, 2012, 1,500 runners will test their stamina and savor fine Oregon wines at the third annual Fueled by Wine Fine Half Marathon. Presented in collaboration with the Dundee Hills Wine Growers Association, this challenging 13.1-mile race sets itself apart by integrating its course through some of the most magnificent vineyards in Oregon.

A limited group of 1,500 runners will propel themselves over some of the many hills that make up Oregon’s world-class wine region. Runners are granted rare access through some of the region’s top vineyards, including Stoller, Vista Hills, Domaine Drouhin, Winter’s Hill and Archery Summit. Unlike traditional half marathons, a large portion of the event will follow unpaved vineyard trails as they wind through rows of grapes and under branches of Oregon’s prized hazelnut trees.

“This unique race brings together Oregon’s love of outdoor adventure with the passion for fine wine,” said Chris Nagy, race architect and president of Fueled by Fine Wine. “We’re excited to have our runners truly experience our wine country, step by step and mile by mile, and to reward themselves with a glass of fine Dundee Hills wine afterwards.”

Just as unique as the race venue, the post-race Wine Celebration invites race participants and their families and friends to sample some of Oregon’s best Pinots and other wines. 21 Dundee Hills wineries, including Argyle, Winderlea, Domaine Serene, Lange and many more, will be sampling their finest to toast to each finishers success.
