Second Annual Sunset on Springwater Taking Place July 23rd
Gather your friends and family, grab your beach blanket and sun screen, and join us for an intimate summer evening run along the beautiful Springwater Corridor. The second annual Sunset on Springwater half marathon, 10k, and family 5k will take place on Saturday July 23rd. With a late afternoon start time followed by a post-race picnic, sweet beer garden, fun games and live music, the Sunset on Springwater is the perfect summer experience for the whole family.
The start and finish line for the race is located near the banks of the Willamette river at beautiful Sellwood Riverfront park. Come on down to the park early and enjoy the pre-race festivities (yes, PRE race). There are several bands and lots of games like badminton, kickball, frisbee, bocce and more. If you’re not up for a game or some pre-race dancing you can just hang out and relax in the sun. After the race recharge with a family picnic and dance to more live music. Enjoy a tasty beer from Lagunitas or perhaps a cider from 2Towns Ciderhouse in the beer garden. There will also be root beer and other drinks for the kids.
The course follows the Springwater Corridor trail offering great views along the way, including beautiful Mt. Hood towering in the distance. All routes are flat and fast, making the Sunset on Springwater a great choice for beginning runners or experienced runners seeking to improve their time. The half marathon and 10k are chip timed. The family 5k is timed but not chipped, making it an excellent way for friends and families to get together for a fun bonding experience on a warm summer evening. Excellent course management includes half marathon pacers, aid stations approximately every two miles, on-course volunteers, and medical assistance.
