Pink Buffalo Racing produces a portfolio of nine events annually, including second annual Oregon Women’s Half Marathon & 5K set for Sunday, October 7. The event showcases West Eugene’s scenic views of protected wetland areas and countryside. With a mostly flat and fast course, participants can prepare for an outstanding opportunity to get a new personal record at the event. Oregon Women’s Half Marathon and 5K was created to celebrate and empower women. Anyone can participate by registering; the event is open to women, men and children with age division awards for all categories.
Noble Estate Winery’s Urban Tasting Room hosts the start and finish line, and neighbors in the Westside Warehouse District J. Scott Cellars and Viking Braggot are partners in the event. Each participant 21 and over will receive a ticket valid for a refreshing mimosa or beer after finishing the race. “Noble Estate is thrilled to be the start and finish for Pink Buffalo Racing’s second annual Women’s Half Marathon & 5K. We’ll be ready to celebrate thirsty racers with Muscat mimosas and nearly a dozen award winning wines at the finish line,” Amy Shadell, manager of Noble Estate says. Pink Buffalo Racing has partnered with Noble Estate Winery at their vineyard for the start line of Grapes of Half Marathon since 2013.
As with all Pink Buffalo Racing half marathons, this event accommodates up to a four hour time limit to cross the finish line, which appeals to walkers up to an average pace of 18:18 per mile. The half marathon offers 4 aid stations offering water, electrolyte beverages and energy gels. The 5K course is open for two hours, and will have two aid stations available for participants. Custom finisher medallions will be given to all half marathon finishers, and the top three in each age group for the both distances will receive medallions on race day. Chip timing is provided by Eclectic Edge Racing.
Registration fees are currently $60 for the half marathon, and $25 for the 5K. Race day registration is available for $70 for the half marathon, and $30 for the 5K. Long sleeve event shirts are available for $26 until sold out. Youth 17 and under and adults 60 and over receive $5 off. Full event information and is available at http://www.pinkbuffaloracing.com/.
