Inaugural Bend Marathon Slated for October 1, 2011

From Press Release –

Opportunities are available NOW for FREE registration into the event by raising $350.00 for the Education Foundation for Bend-La Pine Schools as a part of the new “RUN FOR SCHOOLS” fundraiser!  Runners will benefit with added motivation and inspiration by participating on behalf of a worthy cause!

The Bend Marathon is sure to impress the entire distance with views of beautiful mountains and rugged volcanic peaks in this unique point to point course; beginning in the historic town of Sisters and finishing in Northwest Crossing – Bend, OR. The half marathon will be a scenic out-and-back course in Bend and there will be a Kids’ Marathon as well, where children can log miles now and finish on race day!

Leslie Cogswell, Event Director shares, “We are proud to support the mission of the Education Foundation for Bend-La Pine Schools.  Proceeds will provide Activity Fee Scholarships for students in need so that they may participate in quality after-school sport and club programs.”

Heather Vihstadt of the Education Foundation states, “We, and the many families who will be impacted, are deeply grateful to Breakaway Promotions and the Bend Marathon for this wonderful opportunity! “

Seventy-five entries are available FREE to runners who raise $350 for the foundation.  REGISTER NOW AT: www.sisterstobend.com/registration, where Active Giving will allow athletes to create a user-friendly web page to email to friends and family.  If just fourteen people contribute $1 per marathon mile, runners will meet their fundraising goal.
