If you love to run and admire Oregon’s natural beauty, you won’t ever want to miss the 2015 Huckleberry Half marathon and 10K/5K on August 1st, in Welches, Oregon. Runners agree the Huckleberry Half will charm you with its natural beauty and gorgeous scenery. The route has three distinct paths: one set below the Cascade Mountains towering above with views of a golf course, next are woodsy homes and a shadowed windy road, lastly this brings runners in the direction of Green Mountain trailhead that follows the river for about three miles. This is the perfect time along with the perfect scenery to reflect on life and your running goals as you soon celebrate your success at the finish line.
Upon returning to the event grounds, it’ll be time for free Bigfoot photos and relaxing in the grass. If you so desire you can walk a short distance and enjoy a beer at the Zig Zag Inn and please don’t forget your free beer coupon. If you are a “fasty” and looking to win there are cash prizes for male and female 1st and 2nd place for the Half.
Don’t let me forget to tell you about our adorable finisher’s medal made of reclaimed Redwood material and made in the USA! Check Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HuckleberryHalf for photos. That alone is reason to come out!
We appreciate your support which helps gather a donation for the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp. This year in 2015 we are hoping to donate $10,000 which will provide enough funds to send about five disabled adult and/or child to attend camp. Sometimes this is the only time they are away from home and they love it! We can’t say enough great things about this camp. Their website for more information about what they do: www.mhkc.org.
