Help Obliterate Cancer at the Obliteride

On August 12 – 13, riders will converge in Seattle, WA for the Obliteride, a bike ride that’s meant to help build awareness and raise funds for cancer research. Over the past four years, the ride has raised over $9.2 million with every rider-raised dollar going toward lifesaving cancer research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. So what are you waiting for?

Distance options include:

  • 25 miles
  • 50miles
  • 100 miles
  • 2-day ride 82 miles (day 1) 60 miles (day 2)

Whether you’re a beginner, an avid cyclist or anywhere in between, there’s an option for you. Just pick your distance.

All rides begin at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center and end at Gas Works Park. offers training programs, group ride options, as well as training and nutrition tips to get you going and keep you motivated all the way to the start.

Each course tours Seattle’s most scenic shorelines.

  • 25-miler travels through Seward Park on the edge of Lake Washington.
  • 50-miler: continue along the edge of Lake Washington and over to Mercer Island.
  • 100-miler: skirt the edge of Lake Washington and head southeast to Renton and into the Maple Valley. Riders will loop around and return to Gas Works Park in Seattle.
  • Day 1 of the two-day ride heads out to Bainbridge Island and the Kitsap Peninsula for a total of 90 miles with an overnight stay in Tacoma.
  • Day 2 for 60 miles along the Puget Sound, returning to Gas Works Park.

Elevation gain ranges from 900 to 9,300 feet, increasing with added mileage.

Finishers will be treated to a dinner, entertainment, beer garden and a celebratory finish line at the end of each ride, after traveling miles on roads surrounding the Seattle metropolitan area and more.

Obliteride hosts a weekend full of events including a kickoff celebration during packet pickup on Friday includes Pacific Northwest fare, locally brewed beer and wine, and stellar entertainment to build up the momentum for the weekend ahead. Saturday morning, breakfast awaits before the rides begin starting at 7am. Return to the finish only to be served a well-earned dinner while you share the stories of the day, along with a beer garden, entertainment and more.

While the rides are scenic and challenging, those registered for Obliteride will raise funds to deep exploration into specific cancers including lung, prostate, brain, breast and ovarian. The money raised also goes toward clinical research services and other research on environmental factors, as well as creating less invasive and less toxic cancer treatments.

It’s easy to sign up for a bike race, but Obliteride gives you an opportunity to raise money for an important, impactful cause – and get healthy while doing it.
