Eugene Marathon Launches Corporate Wellness Challenge With Pacific Continental Bank

Eugene-based institution already signed up more than 45 employee runners with more on the way.

EUGENE, Ore. The Eugene Marathon has partnered with Eugene’s own Pacific Continental Bank to become the title sponsor of this year’s Marathon Corporate Wellness Challenge. The Corporate Wellness Challenge is a program designed to encourage local business and employees to pursue fitness goals including participation in the Eugene Marathon’s spring races. Within just a few days, Pacific Continental has signed up 46 employees to run, and is also actively challenging other local businesses to join in their commitment to health and wellness.

“Pacific Continental Bank is thrilled to be the title sponsor for the Eugene Marathon Corporate Wellness Challenge,” said Denise Ghazal, Pacific Continental Bank’s Greater Eugene market president. “Not only is the marathon a signature event for our community, but it is a perfect symbol for businesses to rally around in support of overall employee fitness and health.”
As part of its sponsorship, Pacific Continental Bank will cover 100% of the registration costs for its first 50 employees to participate in any of the running events offered by the 2017 Eugene Marathon, from the 5k to the half marathon to the full marathon.

“The Eugene Marathon is all about helping people be more active and helping them set goals for improving their fitness,” said Richard Maher, Eugene Marathon race director. “Getting a large, well-known local business to show their enthusiasm for our Corporate Wellness Challenge means a lot to us and to the community.”

This year’s Eugene Marathon weekend features a Health & Fitness Expo Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6, with the 5k and Kids Duck Dash also scheduled for Saturday. The full and half marathons are scheduled for 7am on Sunday, May 7. Both of those races will begin and end beside Historic Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus.

The 2017 event will be the 11th running of the Eugene Marathon. Last year’s race saw participants from all 50 states and eight countries.
