2018 Eugene Marathon Registers Runners from All 50 States

EUGENE, Ore. – The 2018 Eugene Marathon is bringing runners to TrackTown USA from all 50 states. With a registration coming in from Wyoming this week, the marathon has now registered runners for this spring’s races from all 50 U.S. states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and multiple countries.

“It’s amazing to see the response we’re getting from around the country and around the globe for this year’s race,” said Eugene Marathon Race Director Richard Maher. “It’s very unusual for a race to have this much national and international interest. People truly love the running history and heritage of our community.”

Bringing so many visitors to the Eugene area has a significant economic impact on local communities and on the entire region. Last year’s event saw an estimated $1.3 million boost to the local economy from runners traveling to participate in the marathon.

“Our area hotels, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions all benefit tremendously from having guests from all 50 states and from around the world,” said Travel Lane County President and Chief Executive Kari Westlund. “Plus, it’s a fantastic way to showcase our beautiful city and the Willamette Valley.”

Festivities for the 2018 Marathon will kick off Friday, April 27 with the full and half Eugene Marathon slated for Sunday, April 29. This date is identical to the race’s first year in 2007. This year’s event will also feature popular favorites including a 5k run, Kids Duck Dash and the Health and Fitness Expo, along with the return of DJ Yoga Flow and the famous Krusteaz Pancake Breakfast.

“The passionate interest we’re seeing from runners from all over the map is truly inspiring,” said Maher. “Part of our goal is to share what makes Eugene such a special place for running enthusiasts and we can’t wait to welcome people from around the country and world to our events this spring.
