Vancouver, WA – The 10th Annual Girlfriends Run for a Cure is a half marathon (13.1 miles) and quarter marathon (6.55 miles) organized to honor and support those diagnosed with breast cancer. It is designed specifically for women and is an opportunity to help support an important cause, spend time with your girlfriends, and have fun! This is one of the prettiest races in the Northwest. Both courses take you through some of the most scenic areas of Vancouver and highlight our wonderful community. Many participants walk, run, or do a combination of both. Chocolate, toffee, beer, massages, and firemen are all waiting for you at the finish line.
Beneficiary: SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE®
Breast cancer has directly or indirectly affects all of us. The proceeds of the Girlfriends Run for a Cure will go directly to the Oregon & SW Washington Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists. They have given over $800 million dollars to over 2500 researchers around the globe and are the largest private funder for Breast Cancer research. The organizations’ promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage – from the causes to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between. The Girlfriends Run for a Cure will also benefit the Kearney Breast Center through the Pink Brigade program.
