Walk/Run for the Animals 2020
On the first Saturday in May each year, Esther Short Park is filled with the sounds of happy people, families and dogs. It is the most amazing sight to see more than 800 dogs happy to be with their people as they head out for a 5k run or 3-mile walk. These animals have a lot to celebrate as they are on hand to help raise money for the animals of HSSW. Part race and part party, it all benefits the 8,000+ dogs and cats served each year by HSSW.
Walk/Run is more than a date on the calendar. It’s a season of events, activities and fundraising that happens with individuals and teams. Leading up to May, teams and individuals battle for a top spot on the leaderboard. Remember, it’s all for the dogs and cats!
Participants can choose from two dog-friendly courses. The 3-mile walk route goes along the Columbia River and the 5K chip-timed run route goes through historic Ft. Vancouver. All registered walkers, runners and fundraisers receive a participant bag. Runners also receive a finisher’s medal.
Walk/Run participants will not only enjoy a scenic view on the routes, but after the race will also get to experience the Party in the Park with more than 40 animal-loving vendors, runner awards and fun for you and your dog. Walk/Run for the Animals also features roving acts, the Heathen Brewing “after the race beer garden,” breakfast at the Main Event Sports Grill team chalet, 98.7 The Bull morning crew on the stage, runner and team awards.
Celebrate the love animals bring to your life at Walk/Run for the Animals on Saturday, May 2, at Esther Short Park in Vancouver. Register for the 3-mile dog-friendly walk, or a chip-timed 5k dog-friendly run, set up a fundraising page, earn awesome prizes and get ready to party!
