June 12, 2014

Submitted by Craig Dean – The traditional start to the multi-sport racing season kicked off Saturday June 7 in Fairview, Oregon with the Blue Lake Sprint Triathlon.  Nearly 400 competitors toed the line near 8:00am with many first timers joining wily veterans of competition on the beach front of Blue Lake Park.  The wide open venue and pancake flat course typically yield fast times and a predicatively pleasant experience.  For those looking for a last …more »

Race Report: 2011 Blue Lake Olympic Triathlon

June 13, 2011

Submitted by Dave Campbell – What a difference a year makes!  Blue Lake, the Northwest season opener was a wet, sloppy, affair in 2010.  Held in a near deluge, there were massive amounts of standing water on the course, in transition, and the last minute shuttles had to be arranged to get the athletes in and out of the flooded park.  But 2011, my twelfth consecutive race at Blue Lake, arrived with mostly sunny skies …more »

Race Report: 2010 Blue Lake Triathlon

June 8, 2010

Submitted by Dave Campbell – Without question, this was the wettest triathlon I have ever done in my life… and I have raced hundreds of them. Nearly one inch of rain fell on June 6 in the Fairview, OR area, home of the Blue Lake Triathlon – and well over 400 racers came out to play in the deluge. Thankfully, it was fairly warm and the wind normally blowing up the Columbia River remained quite …more »
