BIKE

  • Cyclists are personally responsible for the proper working condition of their bike.

  • Normal forms of self-propelled bicycles are acceptable. Recumbent bicycles are not allowed.

Overtaking riders may pass on the inside (on the left) of the road, however you may never cross the centerline while passing or at any other time. Once you have entered another cyclists draft zone (3 bike lengths) you have only 15 seconds to make the pass. If you are unsuccessful you must drop back a minimum of three bike lengths. • Crossing the center line of the road, unless otherwise directed, will result in a disqualification.

  • Ride defensively. Be aware of road conditions, vehicular traffic, and other competitors. REMEMBER - the road is NOT closed to vehicle traffic.

  • Always ride to the outside (far right) of the road staying to the right of the fog line.

  • Due to the distance of the bike ride, two pre-mounted water bottles are recommended for sufficient fluid needs (reference Bike Course for information regarding bottle exchanges on the bike course).

  • When exiting, entering and within the transition area, there is no riding of your bicycle. You must be on foot.

  • Anyone spotted discarding garbage on the race course, will be disqualified.

  • Follow all race officials' directions.
