WETSUIT RENTAL
Need a Wetsuit? Sign up today and reserve yours with our sponsors at AthletesLounge.

PRE-RACE PREPARATION

  • Be sure to keep yourself well hydrated. Be sure your bike is in good working condition. Bike Tech will be on-site at packet pickup on Friday and at T1 starting at 7:00 a.m. on race day.

  • Be sure to keep yourself well hydrated.

  • Pick up your packet with Timing Chip on Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

  • Make sure all your personal property is clearly marked with your race bib number and name (including your bag that will be provided at packet pickup).

  • It is encouraged that all athletes take the bus to the lake. Buses will be available to transport participants to the lake from the bike/run transition (Three Rivers Elementary School) beginning at 6:30 a.m. race morning, and leaving every 15 minutes up till 8:00 a.m. Participants (and spectators) must pre-register with prefered departure times in order to secure a seat on a bus ($10.00 per bus ticket). Signage will also be on the road to direct participants to the lake if they still choose to drive themselves. The ride is approximately 25 miles.

  • Pin your bib number on a garment/race belt you will be wearing during the run. The bib must be placed on the front side of your body and be clearly visible as you cross the finish line.

  • Set up your running equipment at the bike/run (T2) transition located on the soccer field at the Three Rivers Elementary School in the Sunriver Business Park on race day morning prior to departing for the lake.

  • Place your bike number (found in your packet) on your bike prior to bringing to the transition zone (T1) at the lake.

  • Be sure that you have handlebar plugs secured. If you need them see Bike Tech. For your own safety, having the ends of your handlebars plugged is a requirement. You may receive a time penalty for failing to respect this rule.

  • Check-in at the bike/run (T2) transition no later than 7:30 a.m. If you are taking the bus to the lake.

  • Check-in at the participant check-in area at the lake no later than 8:40 a.m. to get your body marked.

  • Fill at least two water bottles and secure them on your bike.

  • Take your racing accessories and check in with the appropriate official at the transition area. (Only competitors with wrist band and race number are allowed in the transition areas - no family members or friends).

  • Find your pre-assigned bike rack. Each athlete gets 3 ft of space at the bike rack (5 spots per side, and first to arrive gets first choice).

  • Prior to the swim start all participants must have their Timing Chip securely fastened to their ankle to be worn throughout the duration of the event.  It is appropriate to wear it under your wet suit. ALWAYS lift up on the strap clasp to be sure it is closed properly. You should not be able to open the clasp once it is closed. If you can open it you have not put it on properly and you will probably loose it during the race. When put on properly it will need to be cut off at the end of the race. Also, leave some slack in the band to help avoid chaffing (place the end of your small finger under the band prior to snapping it closed to provide an adequate amount of slack). Neoprene straps will be available for purchase from the Pacific Crest Merchandise Tent.

TEAMS: Each team member must have their own Timing Chip (teams please remember to turn in your Chip at the "team tag" locations within each transition zone).

  • Make sure your body has been properly marked prior to the start of the race (Your race number on your left calf and your division code on your right calf)

  • Report to the starting area at least 15 minutes prior to race start.

  • Listen carefully to all pre-race instructions.

  • Once the race has started, be careful and considerate of volunteers, spectators, and fellow competitors.

  • REMEMBER - the roads are NOT closed to vehicle traffic, so ride defensively and always stay to the outside of the road at the fog line if not passing. This will allow ease of any traffic to pass by quickly and easily.

POST RACE NOTES

  • At the completion of your race turn in your assigned Timing Chip at the finish line to the officials (TEAMS: swimmers only turn in their Timing Chips at the "team tag" area within T1, cyclists only turn in their Timing Chips at the "team tag" area within T2). Participants will be charged $30 for any unreturned Timing Chips.

  • Move through the finish area in an orderly manner.

  • If you need medical assistance, ask a finish line official to lead you to the medical area located immediately inside the Athlete tent to the left at the finish line.

  • Drink the necessary fluids to maintain body equilibrium.  If it is unusually humid or warm, be sure to drink lots of water before, after and during the race.

  • To collect your bicycle and racing gear, go to the transition area (T2) with your bib number and wristband. No one will be allowed in the transition area unless they have a race bib number or wristband.  Remember, we identify your equipment using your bib number. The transition area will be staffed with security officials.

  • T2 will close at 5:00 p.m.  Competitors must remove all their gear (including their bags that were returned from T1) prior to 5:00 p.m.

  • If you discontinue the race, please notify an official on the course or at the finish line and return your Timing Chip to the finish line.

  • In the case of reported race violations; decisions by the race officials are final and binding.

YOUR RACE PACKET
Packet pickup will be held on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sunriver Village Mall courtyard (official finish line).  There will be no day of race registration/packet pickup.

RACE BIB NUMBER
Place your bib number on a piece of clothing that will be worn during the run portion of the event. Your bib number must be visible on your front side while on the run course and when you come across the finish line. Once again, this number should be written on all personal items that will be used during the event for identification purposes.

WRISTBAND
All triathletes and duathletes will receive a wristband at packet pick-up, which should be worn at all times. This band will identify you as a race participant and will assure that you receive: pre-race pasta dinner, post race dinner and admission to transition areas.

BIKE & HELMET NUMBERS
Each participant will receive a bike and helmet number that corresponds to his or her assigned race number. Please place the bike number on your bike prior to checking it in at the Lake, and place the helmet number on the front of your helmet prior to the start of the race.

PLASTIC BAG
Each participant will receive one plastic bag with draw strings and labeled with their assigned bib number. Use this for the swim-to-bike transition area (T1). All participants are responsible for placing their personal items into their pre-marked bag and tying it prior to leaving the transition area (T1) during the race. The bags at the swim/bike transition (T1) will be transported to the finish line in the parking lot opposite the Bank of the Cascades. It is very important that all personal items are marked with your race number for identification purposes. Any items not in your bag or that fall out if the bag is not tied properly can be collected at lost & found in the Athlete Village.

SWIM CAPS
Swim caps will be provided based on individual wave starts and must be worn during the swim. Waves are set by gender and age division, not by cap color. Human error can result in the incorrect cap color being placed in your packet. Therefore always listen for your gender, age group or special division (i.e. clydesdales) before entering the water. Your correct finish time is dependant on you going in your assigned wave and Timing Systems use age & genders, not cap colors.

COMMEMORATIVE MERCHANDISE
Each participant will receive a Pacific Crest commemorative T-shirt. Other commemorative merchandise can be purchased at packet pickup and at the finish line.

TRANSPORTATION

EQUIPMENT TO THE LAKE
Participants are responsible for transporting their own bike and equipment to the lake prior to the start of the race.  Security will be at the lake starting at 12:00 noon on Friday.  All bikes/gear left overnight at T1 will be guarded, under lights by security personnel. NOTE! Due to very limited parking it is recommended that all participants bring their bikes to T1 on Friday and take the shuttle bus to the lake the next morning. This will also allow you to preview the bike course. You may take a direct route to the lake (approximately 25 miles), then return to Sunriver along the bike route (58 miles).

BIKE SHUTTLE TO T-1/SWIM-BIKE TRANSITION
Have your bike transported to T-1/Swim-Bike Transition (Gull Point/Wickiup Reservoir) from registration in Sunriver, eliminating the need to travel to the lake prior to the race. Bring your bike to the Cog Wild Shuttle booth at the Athlete Village after picking up your packet and putting your number on your bike. COG WILD will safely transport your bike to T-1 for $10.00 per bike where it will be placed at your transition space.

Bike transport for Saturday racers is Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Bike transport for Sunday racers is Saturday from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. There will also be a Saturday morning shuttle from Bend for Sunday racers.

Register on-line CLICK HERE. Shuttling without pre-confirming can be done by brining your bike to the booth Friday or Saturday. The Bend shuttle is pre-register only. If you need more information about the service, email: info@cogwild.com

BUS TRANSPORTATION TO THE LAKE - NEW THIS YEAR!

PARKING AT THE LAKE
Parking is VERY LIMITED at the swim start at Gull Point on Wickiup Reservoir. There will be ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING on FS Road 4260, the road that the cyclists depart on or within the FS Campgrounds unless you are a paying guest there. Disobeying this rule will result in the USFS revoking the permit for this race. We highly encourage all athletes to bring their bike out to the swim-bike transition (T1) on Friday between the hours of 12 noon and 9:00 p.m. There it will be put under lights and guarded by security officials until you begin your bike ride the next morning. You can then comfortably take the bus from the run-bike transition (T2) at the Three Rivers Elementary School to the lake. Spectators are also highly encouraged to take the bus. Vehicles are not permitted to follow the cyclists on the bike course for safety reasons. Please respect this rule and give the athletes a break. Spectators will be returned to T2 on the same buses and will return prior to the first bike reaching the bike-run transition zone. If you must drive out to the lake there is very limited parking on a gravel road just east (about 100 yards) of the entrance to the Gull Point boat ramp. Race Officials will direct you to this parking area. There is ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING on the north side of this road so that a proper Fire Lane is maintained. Please comply with this arrangement. Our maintaining the permit for this event WILL DEPEND ON YOUR COOPERATION.
