ABOUT
THE EVENT
Sprint
Triathlon: Sprint triathlons are generally half
the distance of the traditional Olympic triathlon making
it easier for the pure runner or cyclist to enter the
wonderful world of multi-sport competition. The Dover
Bay Sprint Triathlon will be contested on the same course
as the Olympic event, but only one loop of each of the
disciplines (swim, bike & run).
The
Tri-iT (Novice) Triathlon: Growing up we all naturally
learn to run and to bike. Swimming was not always available
to everyone and fear of the water prevented many from
partaking in this sport. Many have a desire to do a
triathlon but hesitate. The story is generally the same
- no problem when I am on solid ground, but I am not
comfortable with the swim part, especially in open water.
Hence, the advent of the Tri-iT novice distance which
has half the distance of the Sprint Triathlon swim but
the same bike & run segments. This event is perfect
for the first timer, and/or for those that do not care
about awards and want to participant with someone in
a different division (i.e. father and son). Tri-iT participants
will be timed, but will not have overall or age group
awards. There is also no team competition in the Tri-iT
Novice race.
