ABOUT
THE EVENT
The
Blue Lake Sprint Triathlon was added to the Blue Lake
Triathlon back in 1995
to help encourage new participants within the sport
of Triathlon. Over the years this event has grown to
include not only the novice triathlete, but also a large
number of seasoned veterans that makes this event as
competeative as the Olympic Distance event held on Sunday.
The
Tri-iT (Novice) triathlon was added in 2003. This event
is designed for the first timer, and/or for those that
do not care about awards and want to participant with
someone in a different division (i.e. father and son).
Tri-iT participants will be timed, but will not be included
in the awards. The swim portion of the Tri-iT event
is a ¼ mile swim instead of the ½ mile Sprint distance.
And
for those who do not swim, but want to take part in
the Multi-Sport craze, there is the Sprint Duathlon.
While the triathletes are swimming you will begin with
a 5k run, then finish your event by competing on the
same bike and run courses as the triathletes.
