for 0.6 miles to TA Point #2 (15.25 miles). Head back
east and bear right onto the Retreat Kanaskat Rd (16.05

Rd to the junction of Retreat Kanaskat & Kanaskat-Kangley
Roads (5.7 miles). Make the turn-around at this point
and return southbound to Nolte State Park finish the
bike at the bike finish mats within the park.
The bike courses are on nicely paved country roads
over some rolling hills. The first 1.4 mile out &
back on 292nd Ave SE (Olympic course only) is an average
grade up to the TA Point, then downhill back to the
Kent-Kangley Rd. All major turns are monitored by
the King County Sheriff who will provide you with
the right-of-way at all times.
Run:
Olympic Tri (6.0 miles) - Flat to gentle rolling
hills, this looped course is on quiet county roads,
with a finish on a wide unpaved nature trail that
circles the lake. Do expect to see light vehicle traffic
(local residents). The entire course outside of Nolte
State Park is on nicely paved roads leaving only approximately
1.5 miles on nature trails within the park only.
Begin by exiting the transition out to the parking
lot and directly south to 300th Ave SE (0.1 mi). Run
along the south edge of the park within the coned
lane turning left into the bike lane where 300th Ave
meets the Veazie-Cumberland Rd (VCR) and proceed to
the main park entrance where the County Sheriff will
stop traffic as you transition to the east side of
the VCR (0.35 mi). Now run along the east bike lane
of the VCR for one mile and turn left onto SE 384th
St remaining on the left or north side of the road
(1.35 mi). Continue eastbound for 0.35 miles to the
aid station just prior to the RR Tracks, then another
0.6 miles to the TA Point #1 at the end of 384th St
(2.3 mi). Make the turn-around and return, on the
south side of the road, all the way back to the VCR
where you will turn right (north), once again into
the bike lane of the VCR (3.25 mi). We will now retrace
our steps back the main park entrance (4.25 mi); then
retrace your steps back into the park via SE 300th
Ave (4.60 mi). Finish the Olympic run with a single
loop on the wide unpaved nature trail clockwise around
the lake.
Sprint & Novice Tri's (2.8 miles) - The
course is entirely within Nolte State Park and is
comprised of two loops. Begin by exiting the
transition zone and turn right so that you are running
on the exterior of the transition zone. At the NW
corner there is an aid station where you will bear
to the left to begin loop #1 around the lake. As you
come out of the woods to the large grass field just
prior to the finish arch you will encounter two signs:
Loop 2 Ahead, then Loop two. If you have done only
one loop you will need to bear to the right and take
the coned path which will feed you back onto the trail
to do your second loop. Once you have completed two
loops you will continue straight ahead following the
sign to the finish line.
