Hot Chocolate Seattle 15K/5K

For a first class race experience, the Hot Chocolate Seattle on March 5 includes training plans, “goodie bag” (hoodie), aid station chocolate and unique finisher’s medal for 15K finishers. This 15K/5K early spring race will get you out of the winter doldrums with a festive race atmosphere and one of the best finish line spreads around.

Upon registering, you’ll receive either 4- or 12-week training plans by McMillan Running in your inbox that will help you prepare for the race courses which begin and end at the Seattle Center. Runners will get up close and personal views of the heart of the downtown on both courses, with the 5K looping around downtown, and the 15K continuing to the out-and-back-section.

Once race weekend arrives, you’ll be treated to a “goodie bag” at packet pickup, which is actually a quality, full-zip hooded jacket that includes thumb holes and the Hot Chocolate Seattle logo. At a $100 value, this doesn’t even come close to your typical race t-shirt. While the packet pickup expo is not to be missed with chocolate samples, race gear, vendors and bounce houses – if you can’t make it in to pick up your race bib, Hot Chocolate Seattle will mail it directly to you. There is no race day packet pickup, so this is the best option for those who might have a hard time adding packet pickup into their race weekend schedule.

On race day, downtown Seattle will be prepared for Hot Chocolate runners with aid stations that include a variety of flavored marshmallows, chocolate chips and M&M’s. Each 15K runner to cross the finish line will also receive a finisher’s medal that may look like a bar of chocolate, but it’s actually metal alloy. This unique award will be handed to each finisher as the enter they finish chute.

All runners will be treated to a spread of post-race sweets that include a finisher’s mug full of hot chocolate, Rice Krispies Treats, marshmallows, bananas, chocolate squares, pretzels, cookies and chocolate fondue.  All of their chocolate is gluten free, and made without nuts or added compounds.

Runners looking for a great race to kick off their spring race season will love the fun atmosphere that keeps them excited about finishing, but also raises money for the Ronald McDonald House of Western Washington and Alaska – a non-profit organization that helps families by providing them with a place to stay while their children undergo medical treatments.

To sign up, visit Hotchocolate15K.com. Registration deadlines and price increases are coming up quick, so register early. With a warm winter hoodie, sweet aid stations, and a finisher’s mug overflowing with chocolate, there’s every reason to put this race on your calendar and get out to celebrate the beginning of spring.
