World Indoor Championships to return to U.S. in 2016 – Portland, OR Named Host City

From USATF Press Release- Portland, Oregon, will host the 2016 World Indoor Track & Field Championships after the IAAF Council on Friday voted to bring the meet back to the U.S. for the first time since 1987. USATF President Stephanie Hightower, USATF CEO Max Siegel, and TrackTown USA President Vin Lananna presented the joint Portland bid to the IAAF Council on Friday morning in Monaco. Criteria for being ranked and a complete list of races that were included in this year’s compilation can be found on the TRI NorthWest website. USATF Submits Bid to Host 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland, OR

From USATF Press Release – USA Track & Field has formally submitted to the IAAF a bid to host the 2016 World Indoor Championships, it announced Monday. TrackTown USA, Inc., would serve as local organizing committee for the 16th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics, which would be held in March, 2016, in Portland, Ore.
