2010 Hood To Coast Raises $500,000 for Cancer

From Press Release – Race organizers are thrilled to announce that the 2010 Hood To Coast and Portland To Coast Relays raised $500,000 for the American Cancer Society. Bernard Lagat Sets 3,000m American Record

From USATF Press Release – In a race that saw Tariku Bekele (ETH) win in a world-leading 7:28.70, Bernard Lagat finished as the runner-up crossing the line in an American record 7:29.00. The previous record of 7:30.84 was set by Bob Kennedy in 1998. Sport of Running Continues to Grow According to Latest Report from Running USA

Courtesy Running USA Wire #62-08-10 – Road Running continued its “boom” in 2009 with another record year of participation. Despite the lingering recession, the sport grew to an estimated 10,290,000 finishers in U.S. road races, a record high. By contrast, according to Running USA, there were just over 3.9 million finishers in U.S. road races twenty years earlier (1989).
