Race Report + Photo Gallery: 2010 Lacamas Lake Half Marathon

July 27, 2010

Participants in this year’s larger-than-ever, sold out Lacamas Lake Half Marathon and 4 miler were greeted with sunny skies and WARM temperatures that climbed into the 90′s on Sunday, July 25.  The event, staged at Camas High School, drew nearly 1700 runners and walkers from across Oregon and Washington, as well as a few folks from Canada, Alaska, and from as far away as Maryland.

Portland’s Stan Pyle ran away from the field clocking just under one hour, 12 minutes for the 13.1-mile hilly course.  Ageless Nikki Rafie was the top female and was also the top masters female runner at age 48.

The heat didn’t deter folks from attending this year’s event and neighbors brought out sprinklers and hoses to keep runners cool before finishing on the track at Camas High School. Participants had plenty of great things to say about the event, which boasted more than 130 volunteers. The $45.00 entry fee provided each participant with a technical t-shirt, dinner to the Old Spaghetti Factory, chip timing, finisher medal and plenty of post-race food. Next year’s event is slated for July 24, 2011.
