Northwest Runners Vie for USA Mountain/Ultra/Trail Titles

From USATF Press Release – 2008 Olympian Ian Dobson and his wife Julia Lucas of Eugene, Ore., will make a rare foray into the trail racing scene Saturday at the inaugural USA 15 km Trail Championships in Spokane, Washington. The championships, hosted by the Spokane Regional Sports Commission, will offer more than $5,000 in prize money and will also feature championships in the masters division and both the open and masters club team divisions. Event Update: The Chase Canceled by Event Organizers

AA Sports, LTD. announced today the cancellation of The Chase that was slated for Sunday, September 5. “Limited numbers of teams have entered the event at this time, which has forced us to cancel the event,” remarked Race Director Carol Atherton. “This event was popular several years ago, but the numbers of teams and the man hours needed to produce The Chase simply didn’t pan out.” AA Sports co-owner Jon Atherton reported the return of …more »

Participants in this year’s larger-than-ever, sold out Lacamas Lake Half Marathon and 4 miler were greeted with sunny skies and WARM temperatures that climbed into the 90′s on Sunday, July 25.  The event, staged at Camas High School, drew nearly 1700 runners and walkers from across Oregon and Washington, as well as a few folks from Canada, Alaska, and from as far away as Maryland. This year’s inaugural Fueled by Fine Wine One-Half Marathon took place in Dundee, Oregon on July 11, 2010. The event started and finished in Billick Park where 13 wineries showcased their finest selections for participants following the event. The first-year event drew nearly 800 runners from across the Northwest and from as far away as Austria. The men’s race was won by Portland’s Will Justice who crossed the lined in 1:28:52.
