October 14, 2009From USATF Press Release – Dathan Ritzenhein has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after winning the bronze medal Sunday at the 18th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, in Birmingham, UK. The men’s 5,000 meter American record holder, Ritzenhein clocked 1 hour flat to finish in third place. Portland’s Ritzenhein Takes Bronze at World Half Marathon Championships
October 11, 2009From USATF Press Release – 2008 Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein (Portland, Ore.) ran the second fastest U.S. time in history to finish third Sunday at the 18th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, in Birmingham, UK. Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea won his fourth world title in 59:35 while Bernard Kipyego of Kenya just outkicked Ritzenhein for the runner-up position, running 59:59. October 7, 2009From ITU Press Release – Members of Team USA took home 49 medals from the 2009 ITU Duathlon World Championship at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., Saturday, September 26. Portland Marathon Hosts Largest Event Ever, Gears Up for Half Marathon in 2010
October 5, 2009Jason Finch of River Falls, WI won the 2009 Portland Marathon in a time of 2:24:13 with Yuri Yoshizumi of Osaka, Japan taking the women’s crown in 2:55:59. Top Northwest finishers were Greg Mitchell (36) from McMinnville, OR in 2:26:02, and 37-year-old Danita Erickson of Tacoma, WA who clocked 2:56:08 for the 26.2-mile distance in the Rose City.
